The second annual summer trip abroad has us headed to Scotland for 10 days, and we'll be blogging about our trip again at Gone to the
Winchester.
So why Scotland? Well, this year was Ryan's choice and the only concrete
answer I've gotten is that they speak English there (a pretty important
consideration for the foreign-language challenged). We're mainly
sticking to the big cities in the southern part of the country: Glasgow,
Edinburgh and St. Andrews, with a side trip to York in northern
England. So no Loch Ness Monster sightings for us this time around.
Besides Nessie, the sum total of our remaining knowledge on Scotland can be summarized in this list:
1. Ryan's reading of Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus novels.
2. Elizabeth's reading of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.
3. Things Craig Ferguson talks about on the Late Late Show (including his recent show from Glasgow and Edinburgh).
4. Pop culture references to Braveheart (which Elizabeth has never watched and Ryan hasn't seen in 15 years).
5. The awesomeness that is David Tennant.
We hope to come away from our trip knowing much more than that, and
we'll be sharing it with daily posts from the local pubs. So please read our blog beginning July 2 or find out what we're up to on
Facebook.
